Problems importing video from digital camera to WMM

I have Windows XP and I also have a PowerShot A75 digital camera b
Canon and I recorded a video that I wanted to import into Windows Movi
Maker but everytime I try I get this message...

The file C:\Documents and Settings\rentacenter\Local Settings\Temporar
Internet Files\Content.IE5\8R6TU9WX\MVI_0833[1] is not a supported fil
type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

It doesn't make any sense to me cause on my old computer the video'
imported just fine into windows movie maker (I had XP and same camer
and everything!)
So what's going on and is there anyway to import my videos

Try windows encoder 9 series,download at WMP downloads,get the utilities
also,the WM9CAP is a great viewer..The encoder will "convert" audio/video
from youre other sources making them compatible in WMM

First...why is your video in your TIF folder?

Second...can you play the clip in Windows
Media Player?

Third...the PowerShot A75 creates .avi
movie clips...your example has no extension...
what if you copy the file to your desktop and
rename it to: MVI_0833.avi ?

And maybe you have "Hide Extensions For
Known File Types" checked in folder options?

Finally you may need to download and install
a codec for the .avi format. The following free-
ware can identify the codec you need:

You should save your files in a folder
of your own choosing...otherwise
you will lose the file then your TIF folder
is emptied.

camera is attempting to take over your system.
