I have a shared DVD drive on another PC. I figure I have to get MP to
recognize the drive mapping on my PC as a DVD drive in order to play it? I
have downloaded a DVD plug-in but I cant seem to figure this out... anyone
know the answer?
Even a wired network isn't fast enough to play a DVD from a DVD drive.
You'll need to rip it to the hard drive first.

Easiest I've found to do this is to copy the Video_TS folder off the DVD to
a hard disk on your network. Then share the "parent" drive/folder to this
Video_TS folder on the hard disk (this is so that other networked pc's
actually see a "Video_TS" folder and not just it's contents). Have the other
pc's map the shared drive/folder. Then they just tell their DVD player
software to play from the hard disk location rather than directly from the
DVD drive. Note : might only be that one pc can watch a movie at same time,
depends on if software opens file in "read only" or "read-write" mode I
imagine.
