I have tried DoEasier's EasyVideo Splitter and BoilSoft's
AVI-MPEG-ASF-WMV Splitter. Both programs can handle AVI
files but have problems with MPEG-2 video files which they
are not able to recognize, despite them claiming that they
can split MPEG files in addition to AVI files. These are
files with digital recordings directly from TV through a
Digital Video Capture PCI Card.  So I would like to know if
anyone out there has had success with any Video Splitting
Software which can handle very large files (3-5 GB) and also
formats other than simply AVI. My objective is to trim out
the unwanted extra bits of recording at the start and at the
end of the MPEG-2 video films that I record. Will be glad to
hear of your experiences and recommendations.

Use VideoReDo from <http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/index.html>

I use it all the time to trim bits out of 2-hour Mpeg-2s.  Amazingly
fast, no re-encoding, and great support.

Thanks immensely. It looks as if this is what I have been
waiting for. I have downloaded a trial version and after one
look I am sure I will purchase the full version soon. God
bless you for pointing this out to me.
