Is there any way to edit one long audio file and separate it into different
tracks?  I can separate the track, but I cannot save the different portions
as separate files.

Are you looking to split the left and right tracks or divide out
different sections (like the first 10 minutes, then the next 20
minutes...)?

If you want to cut it into sections, then you can chop up MP2 audio
with MP3DirectCut.  You set up a list of cuts and then the program
writes them out into different files.  The program is free and is
available at  <http://www.mpesch3.de>

Google for Goldwave which is a cheap audio editor.  You might also want to
try:

for some free applications that work really well.
