Tools, Internet Options. Clear History
Also change 20 to 0
This clear will filter through Windows as well.

Hi
Right click on the Start button, then select Properties>Customize. Click on
'Clear'.

hi will,
thanks for your advice but it did not work.
your suggestion cleared the run box but did not have the same desired effect
on the search function. when i go to search and inserted a letter in the 'a
word or phrase in the file' box, the auto-complete function still brought up
lists of all the search terms that begins with that letter.

Control Panel/Internet Options/Content tab, click on 'autocomplete' and
change your settings here.

This only clears "My Recent Documents" list. that is not the question
asked. You should read the questions before posting replies. Also try
the solution on your system before suggesting it to a novice!

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru. Delete the key. To
prevent keeping a history altogether, right click ACMru/Permissions/Deny all users
and groups listed.

So, I tried this and I still can not get the autocomplete on my search
function to clear. Which tweak did you use?
