Hi Bob,
I just checked the workstation I'm working at and the Background
"Browse" button opened to the last selected folder I picked a background
from, so maybe the setting is remembered. I don't have a dedicated "My
Pictures" folder, so that might have something to do with it also.
I would select a background from the wallpaper folder using the Browse
button and see if it doesn't open there next time.

Rock,
Stupid me .. putting my pictures I put in a Microsoft labelled folder
called " My Pictures". Thanks. I can see that it works, but just find it
CRAZY that I need to remove pictures from " My Pictures" to clean it
up. guess I'll call it " Our Pictures "

Sorry Bobb, not saying it's good or bad, just giving you the info on how it
works. Personally I don't use the My Pictures folder or any of the "My"
folders. I organize things in my own way.

Rock - don't misunderstand : I didn't mean it as picking on you ... just
'thinking out loud'. ( that msft marketing is 'always making it easy for
the public' and causes problems.
I keep all my permanent stuff in other folders too so NOT using My
Pictures not an issue for me - it's only a temp area when importing
until I can sort/save on my D drive.
Thanks again for the pointers.

Not a problem Bobb, I didn't think you were pickin on me; I knew you just
weren't happy with the MS structure.
Btw, that made me think of the old song by the Coasters, "Charlie Brown"
with the refrain, "Why is everybody always picking on me?" Lol

Hi everyone
It wasn't until today I detected I had the same problem in whic
Desktop Display Properties listed all pictures from the original M
Pictures folder and subfolders. I will show you how I solved thi
problem
To get rid of this problem
1. Go to Start > Search, do a file search for "My Pictures" (quotatio
marks omitted
2. Under search results, look for folders called My Pictures i
locations other than original My Documents folder
3. Delete My Pictures folders not listed in any original My Document
folder
Here's how it happened to me. Last week, I downloaded a picture whil
in sandboxed mode, which caused Sandbox to create another My Picture
folder located at C:\Documents and Settings\*user profile*\Applicatio
Data\Sandbox\DefaultBox\user\current\My Documents\My Pictures. Thi
began the whole problem, it seems
I know there is a concrete correlation because I deliberately di
immediate before-and-after comparsions. As soon as I removed tha
sandboxed My Pictures folder, which had confused the system, the Deskto
Display Properties list returned to normal
Added info:
The pictures that show up under Display Properties, Desktop are located in
these folders:
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
Another checkpoint:
Also, go to: Start/Run then type in:
"%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"
To hide and/or remove/relocate:
Under My Computer scroll down to Shared Documents/Shared Pictures. If
Shared Pictures is listed, remove it.
TweakUI for XP: Unchecking "Lock Web Content" under Explorer to be added
to desktop disables the pictures from being listed.

Workarounds:
Create another folder (under your user profile), remove the pictures from My
Pictures that you don't want listed under Backgrounds and in the My Pictures
folder, create a shortcut to the new folder. Or create subfolders within My
Pictures.
Add Folders to the "Save As" Dialog (Places Bar) Line 117
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Disable Default Save As to My Pictures (Line 263)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Add Folder to Start Menu to replace/re-route My Pictures (Line 2)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

I have TweakUI for XP and that's not an option under ANY tab for me.
