Hi,
My XP machine doesn't open local drives with double click. Instead
Open With dialogue box appears.
It also has serious file associations problems. MS Word files are
associated with Acrobat Reader and pdf vice versa. When I uninstalled
Acrobat Reader PDF files are associated with MS Word.
I tried the following patch.
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_folder_open.vbs
But it didn't work.
Can somebody please help me?
Regards
Cheng

Hi Cheng,

Enable Windows Explorer to show all hidden and protected files. Find and delete the file named Autorun.inf (in the drive's root directory), and delete it. After doing so, make sure to logoff and login back.

If that does not help, see:

"Open With" dialog appears when double clicking on a mapped network drive in My Computer:

Thanks Ramesh. Your suggestion worked. Mere deletion of autorun.inf
was enough.
