Two words: System Restore

'pconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file, it isn't a native Windows command or
application.  Search your drive to see if you truly have such a program
or utility on your computer.

Make sure that it isn't a virus or malware, many of these pests try to
pass themselves off as valid applications by using names that closely
resemble valid Windows processes or commands, "pconfig" suspiciously
resembles the valid "ipconfig" command.  If you are confident that it
isn't a virus at the command prompt issue:  pconfig /? and see if any
help is available on it, beware that if it's a virus it may trigger yet
another payload.  If you have completely eliminated the possibility of
virus or other pests do a System Restore to a point before the problem
started.

Thanks for responding. I was trying to type "ipconfig" and by mistake typed
pcconfig ,system told me not a good command, then I typed pconfig, that is
when I saw the second windows open and lots of files rolled off the screen.
after that, as soon as mouse pointer goes over an icon it will execute that
program.
When I sign as the hidden administrator it works fine no problem.
As for restoring the system , I am running norton and it has to be removed
before I can restore. I have had this problem on a Vista machine and was
trying to avoid the same fate.

You will have to find out what that "pconfig" is, search for it on your
hard drive and search for it on the net, a search for pconfig.exe might
be revealing.  Look at what you have running on the machine for further
clues, from a command prompt you can run the following commands:

net start >c:\services.txt
tasklist /svc >c:\tlist.txt

The output of the commands will be redirected to the specified files,
you can copy and paste the contents of services.txt & tlist.txt to your
post and maybe someone will see a service or process that is out of place.

Look in the Event Log, there might be something recorded at the time of
the incident.
