There were 2 unknown profiles on my computer (XP SP2) and when one of them
was accidentally deleted all of the information on my real/ recognised
profile disappeared (my documents, favourites etc). Much like the current
profile had been reset. I don't seem able to find the deleted files or
outlook.pst anywhere on the laptop.

How do I retrieve the deleted profile (unknown user)?

Will a system restore help?

Sorry, a System Restore won't help. You may be able to retrieve your
.pst file by using one of the many undelete tools available - have a look
on Google. This might be a good time to review your backup policy. If
you keep important files on your PC then you must back them up
regularly, e.g. weekly. A 2.5" disk in an external USB case would be
a low-cost but highly effective backup medium.
