I am logged on as administrator. One more thing, Automatic Updates in
Servcies doesn't have any option to start or stop. It's blank. Selecting
properties gives me the Error 5: Access Denied again.

I suspect you have some corrupted data in the registry key that
controls the Automatic Update facility, or that the permissions
on that key are too restrictive. What data is corrupted I have no
way of knowing - here is the key as I found it on my own
machine. I suggest you export your own key in NT4 format, then
use fc.exe to compare your file with the data below.

Mine matches all of that except for the Security portion. The usre's machine
doesn't have as much there.
