XP: Open folders get closed on reboot?

Open folders get closed on reboot?

It used to be in XP that open files "stayed open"
after a reboot.  That was cool, a neat way and reminder
to continue working where I was before booting.

After installing a program, (WinAce archiver,) that
went away, and it acts like Win3/95/98 did.

Anybody know a way to get that feature back?
Thanks!

Probably the following option is what you want:

In Explorer
- Tools/Folder Options/View/Restore previous folder windows at logon

I don't ever turn this option on myself, and I've never used WinAce so I
don't know of any connection with that, but it may do something to stop
this even if you do set the option on.

Many thanks!!   I thought for sure that would
fix it.  But alas, it was already checked.
I hit Apply and reboot, no help.

Hard to get used to, but superneat!

Ya.  Thanks.  I guess I'll uninstall it and pray.
I've been noticing some sluggishness and other
weirdness too, since install.

If no help, I'll try a system restore (resore?) for
the first time ever.   Any tips or warnings on that?

I'm alive. That counts for a lot. Then, too, there's the economy. In spite
of the war, Katrina, the morgtage meltdown, 9-11, and a few other
experiences, the economy did very well for six years. It took the Democrats
only a single year to f.ck it up.

> Are you proud with what they have done to

My sense of self-worth is not determined by the approbation of others. Our
place in the world is not a popularity contest.

> ...all that sleaze, lies and bribery?

Huh? The Bush administration has been remarkably scandal free. In seven
years, one person has been sanctioned.

> How about all the killing...the torture?  Proud?

Immensely proud, yet disappointed. It is regrettable that magnitudes more of
those who would do us harm have not been killed. Every day I pray:

"...O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our
shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their
patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with shrieks of their
wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with
hurricanes of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows
with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little
children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and
hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of
winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge
of the grave and denied it..."

Killing thousands of terrorists is a Good Thing(tm). Republicans tend to
promote the general welfare through the economy; Democrats tend to provide
for the general welfare through the treasury - and use Linux.

"Change" is not a strategy. "Hope" is not a plan. "Believe" is not a goal.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not entirely pleased. I was rooting for eight years
of JEB Bush, followed by eight years of that good-looking Hispanic nephew.
By then the dynasty would be firmly established and it would be only a small
step to a monarchy (which is what all TRUE Republicans want anyway).

To see all the sleazy Repub scandals in the last five years,
one has to google the scandal *lists*, else google is
overwhelmed.       Meanwhile the Dems' scandals are just two:
Some nobody with a freezer full of bribery cash, and that
guy caught buying $1,000 heterosexual, adult hookers.

"one has to google the Republican scandal *lists*,

"treating prisoners with kid gloves??"  Like this?

  * Urinating on detainees
  * Jumping on detainee's leg (a limb already wounded
by gunfire) with such force that it could not
thereafter heal properly
  * Continuing by pounding detainee's wounded leg
with collapsible metal baton
  * A baton-wielding U.S. soldier forcing an Iraqi
prisoner, covered in feces, to try to walk in a
straight line while his ankles are bound.
  * the sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl by two interrogators
  * Two inmates "Hung by their arms from the ceiling and beaten
so severely that, according to a report by Army investigators,
their legs would have needed to be amputated had they lived."
  * made to crawl around the floor naked while U.S. soldiers
rode them like donkeys
  * punched one prisoner so hard in the chest that he needed
resuscitation.
  * sodomized with lightsticks and brooms
  * raped and sodomizeded female and child detainees

Taguba's 53-page report, classified "Secret" and dated
April 4, 2004, concluded that U.S. soldiers had
committed "egregious acts and grave breaches of
international law" at Abu Ghraib.[3] Taguba found that
between October and December 2003 there were numerous
instances of "sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal
abuses" of prisoners. In violation of Army regulations,
intelligence officers asked military police to "loosen
up" inmates before questioning. The report estimates
that 60% of the prisoners at the site were "not a
threat to society" and that the screening process was
so inadequate that innocent civilians were often
detained indefinitely. Guards invented their own rules
and supervisors approved of their actions.
