vcandys49 - 26 May 2008 01:25 GMT There so many good replies and instead of trying to find them again, is there some way to save them? Some replies are extremely helpful and I don't want to "lose" them!
Big Al - 26 May 2008 01:36 GMT > There so many good replies and instead of trying to find them again, is there > some way to save them? Some replies are extremely helpful and I don't want > to "lose" them! You have to give us something to work with. What are you using to read news. You can always just Ctrl-A Ctrl-C (select all and Copy) then paste to a notepad document. Some programs like Thunderbird allow you to copy the document to your inbox or some other designated folders.
Meebers - 26 May 2008 01:43 GMT I just make a folder under inbox, say it is called "replys" or?? and drag the reply to that folder.

Do you have time for a step-by-step?

Pick new folder Call it what you like. Now you simple click on a news article and drag it to that folder. You will need to set your display to show messages in one pane and folder tree in another pane (normally on the left).

Alan - 26 May 2008 04:57 GMT That's in Skokie, isn't it? :->

Chicago... 4 blocks from Wrigley Field.
It's warmer here than in Mansfield too.

Just out of curiosity, on what are you basing that conclusion? Microsoft CDO for Windows means she's posting from Microsoft's Discussions Groups web site.

X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.2992
I got Big Al's Thunderbird right, though!! <g>
Terry R. - 26 May 2008 05:18 GMT The date and time was 5/25/2008 5:38 PM, and on a whim, PD43 pounded out on the keyboard:

No, she's using web interface. OE headers state what it is.

Jo-Anne Naples - 26 May 2008 01:55 GMT I create a folder for each subject area--for example, Windows XP--in Outlook Express. Then, in the message I want to save, I click on File, Copy to Folder, and then scroll to the right folder and double click to save it there.

> I create a folder for each subject area--for example, Windows XP--in > Outlook [quoted text clipped - 9 lines] >> want >> to "lose" them! Jo-Anne Naples - 26 May 2008 02:49 GMT There isn't any "move to" in these newsgroups, since you can't move a message out of the newsgroup. All you can do is copy it where you want it.

It doesn't seem to have "copy to folder" under "File".

It doesn't seem to > have "copy to folder" under "File". Unless you specifically deleted it (doubtful) you also have Outlook Express. If you also have Yahoo/SBC DSL (maybe other ISPs, don't know) you can use OE to read/write your Yahoo mail instead of having to go to Yahoo.

Some replies are extremely helpful and I don't want > to "lose" them! You'll find saving replies is a lot easier if you access these newsgroups through a newsreader such as Outlook Express instead of through the Microsoft Discussions Groups web site. Take a look at these articles for how to configure OE to access the Windows XP newsgroups.
Setting up Outlook Express Newsreader http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm
Windows XP Newsgroup Setup Instructions for Outlook Express http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroupsetup.mspx
As Jo-Anne Naples has already alluded to, you can create a new folder under Local Folders in OE to store the replies you wish to save. Keep in mind you can create subfolders for various topics if you like. Right click on any reply or entire thread you want to save and select "Copy to" from the menu. You'll then be able to navigate any of the folders you created earlier.
Good luck
