How do I disable notifications/warnings in the system tray for example when I first connect to the internet using my phone dialup & when I unplug my usb stick? JPC 1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER. 2.Navigate to the following subkey:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced 3.Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips. 4.Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0. 5.Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on. Take your pick. 1. Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft. TweakUI is available here. Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Direct Download of TweakUI http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a267 9/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI. In TweakUI, click on Taskbar and Start Menu. In the right hand pane, remove the check mark from the box next to "Enable balloon tips". Click OK. 2. Follow the directions in this Microsoft article.
