i was "playing" with identities within a user profile and created a problem
that i need help PLEASE. i lost all the old emails stored in folders that i
created. however if i follow the path shown below i can see the datafile in
.dbx format in a file that i can't access. how can i get it to attach to the
desired user profile?
|windows explorer|my computer|local disk(C:)|documents and settings|
|SMITH|local settings|application data|identities|0f45ffc58 (etc)|microsoft|
|outlook express|smithfilx.dbx|
there are six of these "funny" named files listed but only one has the 100+
emails that i am trying to recover. how do i get that particular one to
attach to the user SMITH so i can get to the emails? Somebody PLEASE help.

You can use the "File/Import -Messages" function. But before you do that
you'd be well advised to backup/(Burn to Optical) all the .Dbx modules on
your PC.
"Playing" with a PC can be OK as a learning experience IF you have the
machine Imaged. Innocent changes can sometimes leave the machine in a
non-working condition or result in loss of personal data.
