Just because you've renamed the files does not mean that you didn't do it. There are hundreds of people that were offended by your site's filthy pornographic materials.
An ethical person would admit their actions, correct the site, and then apologize for their actions, not deny them.

nass - 05 Jul 2008 19:36 GMT James Borrow an exact CD from a friend and perform the steps mentioned in the link I gave earlier! If that not vaiable to you then take the machine to your local repair shop, but backup your data first. Or Try to run the checker on start up. Also you can copy the file from the C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 copy it from this location to this: C:\Windows\System32 or from this location: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate\16.........long number Open a local search for "user32.dll" and you will find it in more than one location. Reboot your machine after copying the file, does it help? HTH. nass --- http://www.nasstec.co.uk

I tried using system recovery from an earlier point but every earlier point said it didn't work since there were no changes in settings. In the recovery console I did run chkdsk /r which didn't solve the problem. Trying to copy the user32.dll file from the service pack files to system32 (to copy over old) didn't work since it said it was being used by another person or program. I didn't find user32 in software distribution-ofcourse running search uses windows explorer so it fails(refreshes desktop).--Anything else to do? Thanks for still helping me.

There are removal instructions here http://www.sophos.com/support/disinfection/pedis.html#q3 also check for the presence of this registry key and delete it if found [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\PINF]

How do I search for that registry key?

If the reg key is found on your system then it will remove it. http://pcbutts1.com/downloads/pe.reg

Laura MS MVP - 06 Jul 2008 19:47 GMT PA Bear is a joke and his status as an MVP will not last long. MS does not allow the disrupting of their NG and trolling especially by MVP's.

Mill3rs - 31 Jul 2008 23:28 GMT Hi there, I'm new to this whole discussion thing... but I"m getting a similar problem. EVERY time I try to get into the "My Pictures" folder, my whole Windows Explorer quits and has an error message - telling me to debug, send a report or close. It will also close down any MSIE windows I have open. I have tried debugging and sending error messages, but nothing has helped. I have run at least 4 scan programs and have downloaded a few others, but nothing seems to help. In the page below, the problem seems to be that the person is having problems in windows startup. Mine is only when trying to get into my pictures. I have a LOT of family pictures on my computer and would like to print them out, but can't even get into them.
On our LAN, I can get into the "My Pictures" folder from my daughter's laptop and do what I need to do, but I'd much rather do it from my desktop with a real mouse instead of that stupid touch pad.
I went to the website (How to repair damaged or corrupt user32.dll: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/544919-explorer-exe-crash-startup.html ) but it says that the problem is with starting Windows. I o9nly have the problem with getting into the "My Pictures" folder and looking at pictures.
I have Windows XP home media edition and can't use the media center either, as it'll close down as well. As for my computer, I as I have said, I have XP media edition, I prefer to use Firefox instead of MSIE (someone told me it has less viruses, but I have yet to see the proof). Do you need to know anything else?
Please Help!
