I have a file on my XP PRO SP2 desktop that I cannot delete. The icon for
the file has a washed-out look. When I try to delete the file I receive this
message: "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk".
The filename is:
  run[1].just.3.Ultra.Edition.3.3.6.0..Working.Fe.

Any ideas on how to delete it?  Thanks....

Run Chkdsk /F. Then afterwards if the file is still there, try and delete
it.

Hello,
Might try the following (2) utilities.
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/fileassassin.php
Unlocker has worked for most files that needed removal.
Have not used "FileAssassin".
Suggest using Google to help find program ownership of file.
take care.

Open a Command Prompt and type this partial command:

del \\?\

Leave the Command session open, go to your Desktop and click once on the
file and drag it to the Command Prompt window and drop it at the end of
the partial command that you typed earlier then hit <Enter>.
