After having encountered again this same problem now (but at first,
your recommendation "Winsock repair tool" did work for me!), I then
did rename this "HOST" file of mine accordingly and...I had at once

Could some one direct me to the removal (IE 6.0) page in
Microsoft page or, if possible, instructions to remove if
you don't find Remove IE in Add Remove Programs.
