Trying to get new user installed - IE7 goes to "runonce" page and gives error . Tried to go to windows update and get "done" with blank screen or freeze. Any ideas?

Every time I open the explorer 7 after a shut down it gives me an error message and it closes down. After that first time normally works out fine but a few times has closed again.

A load of websites i visit no longer show nav button images - only 'x' in red. I can navigate using them but no images. I am running IE7 on my new vista computer.

Can anyone help? I have installed the update version of Explorer7. I get an error message on startup that Smart bridge motive.exe cannot be located etc. I have no technical knowledge and I am very worried by alert messages.

Note: Everything is correct in the internet options box. My computer normally shows visited and unvisited links by changing the color, so even if I closed the window or visited other pages, I would still see the color change until I cleared cookies or restarted my computer. Now ...
