Is it possible to install IE9 on windows XP because listed under requirements

IE 7.0 and file downloads16 Jul 2007 19:30 GMT2
When I do a "file, save target" the file does download, but the window
showing the download status stops at 0% and will never close. When I attempt
to close it in task manager it references the IE exe and kills all my other
browser windows at the same time.

In system requirements, it lists Windows XP System Pack II and XP

it didn't work, then it disappeared. It's still there under ...

KB931768 Progess Report?16 Jul 2007 08:28 GMT7
I'm one of the unfortunate ones (a minority, I trust) who have been affected by KB931768, viz, I can't access any web page with IE 7 on Win XP.
In my case, disablishing the phishing filter did not help, nor did uninstalling the update.
I understand that this sort of thing happens ...

When I go to some urls like www.ebay.com for instance, my ie7 browser keeps
