I have the OE Read setting set to "Read all messages in plain text".
If I read a scam/spam email "Official notice to all Lloyds TSB Customers" in
this setting, it reads like gobbledy gook :-  "in 1844 And if you Terra
Terra not on your side".

Any way to adjust this? The message pane has a  number of choices, but I
can't get the other pane(s) to correspond.

Just set-up paypal on OE - now, when I close OE, emails I
deleted are still in deleted folder when I open OE again.
Also, instead of seeing a message from sender, I see "OE
did not shut down correctly...

I accidentally deleted an e-mail from my deleted mail folder in Outlook
Express. This folder is  compacted and I used DBxtract. They tell me they
can't retrieve a file from a compacted folder. Does anyone have any other

I loaded Works 2000 and then ADD/Remove it. Then the spell
check stopped working 'cause it said it needed Works 2000.
