My friend has a compact laptop. The O/s is Windows XP (Still SP1) He
commented that he did not want to dial up when he loaded Outlook Express
(ver 6.0) I went to Tools>options> general tab and un ticked "Send and
Receive Messages" at start up. Shut down OE and loaded it again. It ...

Every boot..MSIMN (OE6) tries to make itself the default mail handler (for
.eml)...I use another client for mail which is most definitely set as the
default mail client.
OE6 is set not to poll for new mail also, so I have no idea why it does

I know how to change the font in the message body (through Tools/Options).
But, how can one select the font in the Preview Pane?

I've read the suggestions about going into Options-Security-unchecking do
not allow attachments-close OE, then open and try to read attachments.  There
