Sorry haven't posted here for a long time so may be a faq. Compacted OE6 last night and when I switched back on this morning the emails in my inbox dating back to 20/2/05 have disappeared.

Having problems with receiving email. Can send OK. Have confirmed all settings with ISP (sbc.yahoo), but still can't receive email. Get that popup window asking for user id/password on the server.

Thanks to all for the previous help! OE works great again. We have noticed when using OE6 with Win XP that the nickname feature in OE6 will no longer auto complete. It used to when we used OE6 with WinME. I am totally blind and use the nickname feature a lot with the ham radio ...

The ###### symbols appear in some email messages and attatchment names. Any ideas why this is happening?

A correspondent tried to send me a file that was in .pdf format. Instead of it coming through as an attachment, it came through as an inline text message. When I opened the email in OE6, I literally saw this after the introductory text:

I have problems backing up data (using Novastor) in that it freezes the data backup at the file cleanup.log. Could anyone tell me why? How to remedy?

there was a way in 98 that I could clear out news groups that I had subscibed to in the Windows folder.....these files can get quite large and at times I deleated them and started fresh....any ideas how to do this in Outlook Express on XP.....thanks

Before a friend does anything serious to his sick computer I want to see if I can recover his email files and address book I am principally a Mac user and would have no difficulty in finding the appropriate files but MacOE5 bears not similarity to XPOE6 which I use
