Whenever I quit Outlook Express it asks me whether I want to enhance its
performance by archiving my messages by compressing them. I did this once and
all my messages were put into a separate dbx file and I had a heck of a time
bringing them back into my inbox.

I have deleted an identity that I thought was not being used, however it was.
All the folders and their contents would appear to have been lost until I
found in the "Help" that ""When you delete an identity, the corresponding
settings are deleted, but the data are not deleted.""

From, Tools|Options|Read...
I have marked "read all messages in plain text" but I'm still getting all
news and email in html.
What else is needed to set all to plain text ?

Cannot open highlighted links in OE mails.
I have OE 6 and IE 6.

Prepping for system wipe, and changed "Store Folder" for messages to external
drive. Prompted to exit and restart OE for changes to take effect. Upon open
files are copied to external drive, but system freezes. Reboot and open OE
again to complete the move. All but "Sent Items" ...

In reference to the option to have OE disallow opening or saving of attachments, How does one know 1) what file types OE considers to be viruses and 2) is there a way to specify allowed file types?

I use AVG anit virus software, it plants a signature on each email
saying it is Virus free, is there a way not have to have it visible on
each email?

When I send my .jpg pictures via e-mail, they are being received as a jumble
