I recently configured my outlook express to pick up my "Gmail". I followed
Google's instructions and then ran their troubleshooter to make sure I did
everything OK. I know the settings are correct because if someone sends an
email to that address it shows up in my outlooks ...

I'm used to seeing a "new mail" icon show up in the System Tray whenever I
have unread mail waiting in Outlook Express.  Recently, however, I notice

"new mail envelope" icon does not show up in the System ...

OE6 is extremely slow in starting up.The problem started some weeks ago and
is increasing.
At the end of the slow startup Microsoft Serurity Center warns "that my
computer might be at risk".

Is this possible in OE?  It would be for a person who has two computers, and
wants copies of all e-mails sent from one computer to be delivered to the
other computer as well.  She was able to do this with an Apple computer but
can't find the way to do it with OE.

I regularly search one specific folder in OE.
As I have numerous folders its a pain that I always have to manually
navigate to this folder before doing the search.

My wife's laptop had to be wiped clean and software re-installed.  She uses
Win XP home edition.  In trying to set up her email account it shows server
as IMAP instead of POP 3.  How do I get the setting to show POP 3?  Thanks!

Most of the email messages that were sent to me in the last few weeks [via
the pop3 server for my Earthlink email account] have not downloaded into my
OE6 inbox.
In contrast, email for my Hotmail accounts has been coming and going

when i try to download a word document (.doc) from the internet it
opens automatically with notepad.
any ideas??

Since the middle of February I have not been able to open OE.  The window
comes up and shows that I have received new mail.  It doesn't matter what I
click on, the hourglass comes up.  If I click again "Not Responding" shows up
on the top bar beside Outlook Express.  I've tried ...
