About every four or five times I follow the compact messages directions, I
lose 1-6 months of messages in either the deleted or send file.   Each time,
I swear I'll never compact messages again, but OE wears me down by forcing me
to reject the compacting.

Running Windows XP Home with IE7 and OE6.  Was gone for a week and had PC off
the entire time.  Returned home and opened email.  Receive email fine.  When
sending email, it appears to have left as it moves from outbox to sent box.  
However, recipients do not receive the mail.  ...

I have seen what may be similar issues in the past, however, haven't seen a
resolution that works for me.
I have Windows XP, SP2 with Internet Explorer 7, running Outlook Express 6,
and have created a newsgroup account, and subscribed to several Newsgroups.  

XP SP2 IE7 OE6 - all working fine till about 30 days ago - THEN =
OE6 will not send bcc to multiple recipients and gives no error message -
we have not changed settings on any parameter and don't know how to correct
this situation - we tried to download new version of OE6 but get ...

Just recently my Outlook Express 6 has started Copying folders (I know not to
where) whilst compacting. I used to compact a few times every day; took a few
seconds each time. Now it takes about 2 minutes or longer every time. I find

Am I beating my head against a brick wall?
After downloading a large multipart newsgroup file I want to copy the .dbx
file to CD so I can combine and decode on another machine with OE. When I
tried this I receive the message ...".dbx is not a valid win32 application."

When I send messages, there is no copy that goes into the sent items
folder.  I checked under options and the check box is checked where it
says to save sent messages to the sent items folder.
Any idea what's causing this ?

I recently upgraded from Win98SE to WinXp then upgraded IE6 to IE7 which must
have done something to my OE6 mail client.  I still have OE6 with all my

Thanks for help 3/27 re OE Back Up.  I reviewed all of the links you provided
but in Windows Explorer, I still can't get beyond the GUID which, i learned,
is the long number after Identities in the Path.  I found the path Tools,
Options, Maintenance, Store Folder.

Frankly its in a mess.
Trying to get all the contacts  in to 4 individual groups.Each one separate

why can`t I access newsgroups

Every so often, I experience some strange happenings in Outlook Express
6.00.2900.2180
I normally work in Rich Text(HTML) mode, and I use some background
stationery, and an MS font "Comic Sans MS".

When I download my messages I only receive the headers.  Also, I cannot send
a message.  I can type the header but I cannot type the text  Messages work
fine if I use another email client.  How do I fix this?
