For some reason Internet Explorer no longer opens. I just get an error message that says that the program has encountered a problem and must close. I've tried reinstalling but it won't allow it. Now what?

All of a sudden today my Internet Explorer will not open new windows. I tried 2 other browsers and they work fine. For example even this window in which I am typing this question would not open with IE6, so I had to use Opera. Any Ideas? thank yo

I run Dell laptop with WinXP and IE6. For some reasons IE6 works fine for one user but slows down drastically for the other. Could it be some corruption in the HKey_Current_User part of the Registry and if yes, how to correct it? Alexei

I've just downloaded to patches for IE6 SP1, numbers q828750 & q822925 but when I try to open them a message appears 'this update requires sp1 to be installed' I have installed SP1 and the about box on IE6 confirms this Any ideas about how I can get these patches loaded?
