with "folder view" but that option is not even available

The open dialog boxes in Office 2003 show 7 or 8 icons and the places to the
left of the dialog box can be tailored to show my own folders.  There seems
to be
no such feature in the equivalent box (sometimes called Choose file) in IE.

Whenever I start Windows Explorer and then Shut Down, the PC hangs - cursor
in upper left corner.  The Pc only hangs when Windows Explorer is started
from the Start/Programs/Accessories, not from My Computer.  Pc does re-start
ok but will not Shut Down.  Strange.
