I can connect to the internet but i can't view webpages from within Internet explorer. I'm running windows me, if i open a msdos box, I can use the ping command to ping websites but that is it.

Ie works fine until a new, smaller, window is opened in it...say when linking to something from netscape or wherever. The window opens and its content is accessible. Once you try to CLOSE this window, IE hangs and gives the "IE has encoutnered an error and must close"

I am using Windows XP and IE 6.0. I have recently installed AVG antivirus and Spybot on my computer. The browser window now will not fill the entire screen when I click to maximize it. The top quarter of the screen shows my desktop and the bottom 3/4 is the IE browser window.
