I cannot view any PDF files directly from any website that
I go to.  When I try to do so, all that loads on my
computer is a blank white screen with a red "X" box in the
upper left corner of the screen.  And I have downloaded

The most recent instance was on a message board. A guy posted a picture
within the message, but all I saw was the infamous red "X" in the little
box. Based on subsequent posts in that thread, one other person couldn't see
it, but four or five others did.

I can't view the contents of posts in the community newgroup.  When I first
navigate to this site, the right- most square pane shows the welcome text,
but if I click a post the pane is blank.

I recently converted my websites to XHTML 1.0 Transitional markup (from
HTML 4.0 Transitional). They work fine for me in Netscape 7.2, but I
have received quite a few reports from people using Internet Explorer of
my page bringing up a download link for an XHTML file instead of
