Unable to open word doc from Webfolder15 Dec 2004 10:48 GMT1
We have encountered a problem when trying to open word-documents from a
webfolder.
If we open the document when linked from a web page there is no problem.
The problem generates the following message in word:
IE6 SP2 popup blocker misconception15 Dec 2004 09:15 GMT5
It is a misconception to call IE6 SP2 new feature "Popup blocker" an
"Inopportune Ad blocker". When I browse legitimate web sites that need popups
(when I click some links or buttons), like Hotmail for instance, I don't
recognize an "Inopportune ad" in a simple dialog like "Do ...

I think I found a bug with the "browser back" funktionality in conjunction
with XML pages. See the five steps:
1) On a large XML page which is visualized via an XSL...

IE6 Information bar15 Dec 2004 07:45 GMT3
How do I disable that $&&$$&%##Q%$W* IE6 security information bar? I do not
want it to automatically block "active content", but I can't figure out how
to disable or by-pass the thing. All the help says is that you have to
disable it for each type of message, but it doesn't tell ...
exporting privacy settings (blocked sites)15 Dec 2004 05:45 GMT3
I'm setting up a new XP Pro machine, and I'd like to be able to export the
list I've created of sites which have cookies blocked, rather than have to
enter them all again one at a time.  My old machine is 2000 Pro, and both
have IE6 with the most current patches.  Can anyone tell ...
IE6 Custom Security Level button greyed out15 Dec 2004 05:45 GMT3
I have a few users complaining that their IE6 SP1 installation will not
download active X etc.  When I look at their security settings for the
internet zone, it shows the default level box, and the custom level box,
however the custom level box is greyed out.

This little beauty appears frequently when clicking on links from

Limited users can no longer access Internet15 Dec 2004 00:57 GMT2
On a workgroup PC, running Windows XP Pro with SP 2, suddenly user level
accounts can no longer access the Internet or e-mail.  If I add them to the
Administrators group, they will have access but that is an unacceptable
workaround.  I even created a new, test user account to see ...

I updated windows XP and got the ms update with built-in
popup stopper and stuff and now I can't download my bank

IE crashers when trying to print, print preview, access Help, etc.14 Dec 2004 23:39 GMT2
I'm getting the pathetic MS apology that "Internet
Explorer has to close". This happens when I try to run
print, print preview, or page setup from the File menu and
when I try to access the version number through
Restricting IE Use14 Dec 2004 23:11 GMT3
I'm brand new at this and not a techie so please be patient with me.  I have
new computers on the way for my employees and have reviewed the MS page that
describes what to do in order to block all sites except those that have been
specifically allowed.  I think someone asked my ...
Checking SSL version14 Dec 2004 22:48 GMT1
I'd like to check the version of SSL negotiated by IE with secure sites,
i.e. SSL2 or SSL3.
I note that the 'Certificate' dialogue, under the 'Details' tab, starts with
a 'Version' field, then serial number, signture algorithm etc. What I can't

IE 6 Security Best Practices14 Dec 2004 22:27 GMT1
I have been given the task of coming up with standardized settings for
security in IE 6 and implementing them to 180 users (mix of w2k & xp pro) via
group policy.  I've search Microsoft for anything for best practices and come
up empty handed.  Searched google and came up with ...
favorites cache filtoring14 Dec 2004 22:25 GMT1
dumb question, but on most of my XP machines running IE6, when I look in
favorites, the system does me the favor of only showing ones I have visited
recently, unless I press the symbol to see them all.
On one of my computers this has been turned off, so that all favorites show
