After applying the MS04-040 update to Win2000 & WinXP SP1 PCs, all IE shortcuts on the desktop stopped working. IE opens a blank page then freezes. Starting IE and typing the URL in the address pane manually works fine.

I installed the update MS04-040 yesterday. now when I goto 'windows update' site, the green bar just keeps on going from left to right, and no updates appear, it just goes on searcing forever. I am using windows XP media centre edition. Can anyone help please

Hi Gurus, We are going to upgrade user system with XP Sp2 but MY Internet application behaves very differently with sp2. We have DHTML Menu which opens up as POPUP Menu same as IE File Menu.

Is there a fix for "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close" when linking to a PDF? It is possible to right click on the link and save the file, but trying to open the file directly causes the noted shutdown.
