System setup (not mine, but a friends) is XP Home with SP2 using IE 6.0.  
After a recent reboot, any access through IE 6.0 is completely unsuccessful
with the above message.  DNS does not seem to be the issue because even a
direct http:\\192.168.1.1 (the router) gives the same ...

i have troubles with https sites, using XP SP2, IE6. I can log on, but
