Email hyperlinks won't autopopulate Outlook new message - why?04 Feb 2005 06:13 GMT1
Using Windows XP. When I click on an email hyperlink, an Outlook new message
opens but the email address won't auto populate.  It would on my old computer
with Windows 2000.  Is this an XP issue or something I need to turn on in
Internet Options?

Whenever I acess certain pages, specifically windowsupdate and netscape.net  
I get a blank screen with DONE and no errors.   For example, when I go to
check email on netscape.net site, after enter my username, password I get a
blank screen it says Done at the bottom and no errors ...

On my boss's laptop any time he tries to browse to a local address the
request is routed out to the internet and some web page states that a
web site of that name does not exist, but suggests alternatives.

I'm using XP.  Up until a few days ago, I could save images and assign any
"type" I wanted, or they were saved in the same format as the original. Now
when I right-click to save 1) they will only save in .bmp format and 2) the
option of Save Target As is grey and not an option ...

When I save new internet sites they have a unique icon associated with them.
This icon disappears and is replaced by the explorer icon after I run Scan
Disk and AdWare clean ups. How can I permanently save the original icon
associated to a specific web site.

Is there any way to do maintenance on the list of passwords stored by
Autocomplete?  
When I go to Tools>internet optoions>Contents>AutoComplete all I am allowed
to do is delete all forms or all passwords.

when I open IE - it does not connect with any websites. I have windows 98.
Gives me error msg - The page cannot be displayed.
This is not supported my microsoft anymore and I cannot afford to pay $35 to

Running XP on new Vaio with SP2. Under main user will not auto fill in IE
6.0, and will not remember passwords.  All appropriate boxes are checked in
Tools, and the Use inline...is checked under advanced.
It DOES remember web address when I begin to type them, so it is only the

i am having the same exact problem but,
eventually it will go to the page but it takes 3-4 minutes before it auto
completes the address.  is there a refresh option in the reg that tells it
when to default to the default prefix?

How could one get rid of IE6 habit to change downloaded file extensions? (I
suspect it's not a programmer's error but is meant to be a "feature"). For
example it changes *.stw (OpenOffice template) to *.zip. Yes, stw is also a
zip archive but I don't see any reason to change the ...
