When I type an website address in the Address Bar, IE just "hangs" and can

IE 6 opens first window just fine, but when I try to open a second browser
window, the second window will briefly appear then merge with original window.

When i click a link on a site, it opens up a IE window which does not load
any website at all.
However when i copy and past the Link to the address bar it works...

Just recently the recent entries in the drop down of my address window bar
