My friends pc has the following problems... IE6 (latest patches) spontaneously closes when i try and view certain sites. Every time the same. Type a known address (for example www.dabs.com, nothing dodgy there) and it closes all iterations of IE

When open IE 6.0, sometimes the webpage occupies the whole screen, but sometimes it only occupies about 3/4 of it, why is that? Any commends? Thanks. David

I checked for viruses and Spyware using: Trend Micro, Spysweeper, adaware, spybot, and Hijackthis. I cleaned the system of spyware and adaware but no viruses were found. The problem is on Comcast.net when you click on mail on the top left it

I am using Windows XP SP2, and my version of IE is 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519. When i go to a website and try to download a .tgz file the download gets translated into .tar. Here is an example of the URL:

Every times I start IE, it freezes when I click on a link, up to 8 minutes. When it happens, I can start & execute other programmes such as Exel, Word, ... but the system clock is also frozen. The Task Manager shows no CPU & Network activity.

I have a URL that keeps coming up on my address bar. I've cleared my history and run the REGEDIT and deleted the "typed urls" under current user. I didn't see this URL in the History file or in the REGEDIT. Anyone have an idea of how to get rid of it?

I am having problems opening web pages using ie6. If I clear my cache and clear cookies and temp folders then it seems to work for about 10 pages then it grinds to a halt. The only way that I can get the pages to open is to constantly refresh and even this doesnt work all the time.
