My computer was used by... annoynomous... to find porn sites using internet search engines. So all those explicit terms are now displayed everytime I key in an entry like say "symphony"... on the 1st "s" ... "sex" appears.

My IE6 SP2 habitually does away with any character that has an accent or a tilde, or indeed any non-standard character. It just shows a blank space in place of the offending character. How can I repair this?
