When opened, IE 6 page says Page Cannot Be Displayed. It doesn't matter what I do, IE refuses to respond. Its like I'm not connected to the internet. Does anyone know whats going on?

I'm working on a Web To Host solution and I use unicode character (range U+2500-253C) to draw boxes with a fixed-width font (Courier New). I've got a problem of horizontal alignment on some clients where IE seems to pick up a proportional font instead of Courier New.

How can I disable something like the following? I don't want it to be executed in any way. What happens now is that the browser connects for downloading and then I get a popup like "do you want to install ...?". Hell no. Why does it start downloading without asking me first?
