ok, XP home SP2, IE 6.0 with latest patches, the machine is virus/spyware free.
this has been going on in sp1 as i remember too.
this is an isolated case, it only happens when i have

Internet Properties --> Delete Cookies,

When I click on a link in IE6 my computer hangs completely ie nothing works
