I googled sys sys98.exe, a file that was popping up continuously on bootup in my uncle's laptop. It led me to a HijackThis forum post that then advised one to go to a malware prevention and removal page. I dl and ran most of the apps from anti-spyware to trojan removers.

No Java web sites seem to work anymore, I get messages that my browser doesn;t allow Java. I have security at medium so that should do it???????????????????

On a recent Virus scan using Mcafee, i have found a trojan "generic.cb" in iexplore.exe. I cannot clean, quarantine or delete it. any ideas? Hopefully onnes that do not involve a re-install of Windows.

I can clear history and temp files etc, but find that even when one has cleared the drop down list of typed addresses, numerous hints still pop up when one tries to type a new address. What is this list properly called; where is it kept; can it be cleared?

Greetings everyone. I recently allowed my cousin to use my computer, and he decided to play around with the system settings or the registry (not sure which one). Now, he can't remember what he did and cannot fix the IE problem I am having.

I like to have the icons on my tool bar permanently. I get most of them from searching for "favicon". Some of them I can't find, like http://www.nydailynews.com/today/-/-/default.asp , I can't find where it is kept. Can anyone help?

My IE6 browser does not display PNG images. At least this is true for some sites, although I'm not sure whether there are other sites for which PNG's are displayed correctly. So, what's the deal? Is this a general problem? Is there a patch? By the way, my Opera browser does

When I save a site in my favorites, Windows does not automatically use IE icon. Instead Windows uses the site's icon. I can change the icon manually to IE icon but I can't change it back to the site's icon. Is there any setting I can use to make this change. Any ideas? Thanks.
