In the Internet explorer options under the content tab - Autocomplete the forms, user names and passwords on forms, and Prompt me to save passwords options are grayed out/disabled.

An interesting problem which I have not seen before. Upon trying to enter a secure area on IE6 no source is downloaded and therefore no webpage. All the scurity settings have been set to low to try to work round this.
