I could use both virutal and fixed hard drives, I can not
figure out how to do it in VirutalPC.
Adjusting emulated OS time impossible?03 Feb 2004 01:21 GMT1
I've just noticed that in VPC 2004 (trial) it's impossible
to change the time of the emulated operating system (XP
Pro in my case). It will accept let's say a switch from AM
to PM and show the new time briefly in the taskbar but

I installed the Fedora core 1 (redhat) on a virtual pc,
which works fine - except networking. Fedora doesn't seem
to be able to acquire a valid IP via Dhcp. Can anyone
help me?

Mouse tracking weirdness02 Feb 2004 21:02 GMT1
I have Virtual PC 6 installed (with the 6.1 patch), running Win XP
Pro. It seems to work fine, except that the mouse tracking is wonky:
the Windows mouse pointer seems to move at different speeds than the
Mac pointer, and occasionally jumps in seemingly random directions on

I've installed VPC 2004 on Xp and then installed 2003

This is fine, but if I press C-A-D it opens the Task

VPC2004/XP: CD/DVD drive not recognizing disks02 Feb 2004 18:01 GMT2
I was surprised when sometime after successfully installing XP (guest) under
XP (host) via CD, that the guest OS no longer recognized CD's. The only
thing I did after installing was install VM Additions, though to be
accurate, I didn't check the drive before installing Additions, ...
Security: Does Guest OS Need AV and firewall?02 Feb 2004 16:40 GMT3
I'm using Virtual PC 2004 in software development for
testing programs in different environments. This works
beautifully and I'm glad VPC2004 was included in my MSDN
OS Subscription.
MSDN and Trial editions different?02 Feb 2004 16:24 GMT1
Okay, here's the deal. We have an MSDN subscription at
work that allows us to each have Virtual PC installed. We
downloaded the lastest version available to MSDN folks,
checksummed it etc. and installed it on 2 machines. Mine,
NAT02 Feb 2004 11:00 GMT3
Yesterday I installed a wireless router, and reconfigured
the network at that point to use non-routable i.p. space
for all dhcp addresses. (i.e. 192.168.0.x)
