Anyone care to comment on the relative merits of VPC against VMWare
(or vice versa).
I realise VMWare do virtual datacenters and servers etc, but just a
comparison of the Virtual Workstation against VPC.

VMWare Workstation v3+ has a "rapid resume" mode.  The
VirtualPC equivilent would be a "persistent saved state".  
This would effectivly freeze the Virtual Hard Disk, and
the Saved State files, allowing a repeatable quick boot to

We have some remote developers who want to run Windows

Is there a way to tell a diff disk that i'd copied to a
new location that the parent is also at that new location ?
My VM won't start !  The diff disk thinks that the parent
is still in the old location.

I am running windows 98 from the virtual pc and the
maximum resolution I can get is 1024x768 with 16 bit
color whilst my actual maximum resolution i can get is
1280x768 from my windows xp.

I have installed  VPC 2004 on 3 different machines, 2
running W2K Pro and 1 with XP Pro, and then use MSDOS
6.22 as the guest OS on each. All seem to work except
that the settings for LPT1 on the Virtual PC Console are

Interesting, it would appear old vb6 pukes with error [method '~' of object
'~' failed] on host computer when ever a virtual machine is running.  I knew
this error use to occur when vb6 ran out of memory, but my vm only takes
212meg on a 1 gig machine.  Don't know what else could ...

I'm trying to start a virtual machine from the command
line and it tells me it can't find the .vmc file
I have the .vmc and .vhd on another hard drive (f:\vpc\).
In the command line I use
