I've been working with VirtualPC on my desktop machine to try and get some
legacy hardware working.  The hardware uses the parallel port to access some
data aquisition modules but these modules will not work on anything beyond
Win98.

Host: XP SP2, VPC2004 SP1, Loopback Adapter used on host for guest
Guest: XP SP2, Additions installed
Problem: On guest NIC doesn't work, got a yellow question mark in device
manager.

I have tried to install MCE 2005 in VPC ( for testing purposes) but when I
start Media Center, the screen is all out of alignment and some parts are
missing.
Has anyone tried this ?? If so any tips ???

like Compaq DL 380 which has SCSI hard drives?

Running Virtual PC on XP Home rather than Professional. Trying to install a
Windows 2003 Sever guest PC and this has the error during installation of
servername already exists, even though it doesn't.

this question is intended for the people  of  microsoft  or any person
knowledgable in the details of virtual pc.
i have  may hp computers , and in the bios there is no choice for  settiing
the parallel  port  to be a standard parallel  port.

I've setupped a vpc with xp pro. Now I want to store the image
and restore it every time I need ... just to avoid first installation.
So I can test my software without risks.

I have created a Win 98 based virtual machine with Virtual PC 2004, but it
only recognized two COMs, as normal, COM1 and COM2 but I have installed a
2COM card in the PC and I want to create 2 COM ports more in the Virtual

I am running VPC on Windows XP , Redhat Linux Installed as guest OS and did
not have any problems - Then I added RAM to my machine and also increased the
RAM allocated to the VM (512 MB) and now my guest OS hangs suddenly every 2
minutes .... any problem with adding RAM
