I cannot disable screen saver in a virtual machine.23 Jan 2005 02:25 GMT1
I recently installed a Windows XP version in a virtual machine, but am
unable to disable the screen saver.  Both the drop down for the choices of
screen savers as well as the Wait and On resume, password protect are all
grayed out.  Is there a way to enable these selections?

Both the host and virtual machine has been successfully assigned IP addresses
from my router and both can navigate the Internet.  However, they can't seem
to ping each other.  Is it possible to do this?  If so, how do I enable this
capability?  I need to be able to communicate ...

I understand that you need to click Right Alt+Enter.  However, I wish there
was a one click solution.  What would be really cool is to have a floating
bar somewhere that I could click on and quickly go back to the host or any

we are running an application on virtual pc that requires us to monitor
traffic on one of the nics on the host machine. I have verified that we are
using the correct nic, but I do not see all the traffic on the guest nic as
on the host.

I am using a DSL Modem to connect to the internet...It is a single port modem.
The modem's IP address is 192.168.2.1
I have manually set my computer (Host) to 192.168.2.2 and it's gateway to
192.168.2.1

I found a problem in windows98, hosted on a virtualPC2004.
I am trying a .net application, and the application works
on vmware.

I have a problem on my VPC that I had noticed on my Dell Precision 2 years
ago.
When I start the VPC (which has XP installed on it with SP2) the CPU in VPC
seems to run faster and the cursor blinks faster, the sound files and

I upgraded from vpc 5.0 to vpc 7.0.1. When I try to updat the addition I get
this error message "1607 script runtime error".

and trying to install WinXp Pro.  This is a boxed upgrade that I purchased
some time ago when I upgraded from Win2K.  I now have a new machine with an

I am running VPC 2004 trial version with VM additions
- host = W2K prof. SP4, guest = W2K server SP4
- pc = athlon XP1800, 1GB ram - (have tried 400-700MB assigned to guest)
VPC installed ok and runs, excpet that it freezes (mouse stops moving)

Copying data between the virtual hard disk and the host machine is very easy
when the Virtual PC is supported by the VM Additions.
But when the OS has not yet been loaded or the OS is not supported, it would
be helpful to have a tool on the host that could mount the Virtual hard ...
