it took a few weeks and a bunch of restarting of the installation process but
Gentoo works in a Virtual Machine... And I recommend it -

I compressed my Virtual Drive (13gig - 6 gig free) after 1st defraging the
host drive and then running Eraser.exe to set .vhd  unused space to zeros.
When the compression completed, the resulting virtual drive was the same size
as the original. I have SP1 installed.

I have installed VPC 2004 with SP1 (5.3.582.27) running on Windows 2003
Server (NO sp1) as the Host OS. I installed Windows XP Professional as the VM
OS added all the updates and SP2.
When I try to run the "Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions" the
VirtualPC 2004 "as client" on Windows 2000 Server as host27 May 2005 13:40 GMT1

I understand how to dedicate a NIC to a VM.  However, the internal stack
functions as a switch, and so that NIC sees only broadcasts and packets
directed to itself.
Now if the guest OS assigns an IP address, it all works great.  However for

Hi all... pretty standard setup (bit of a networking weakling here):
- Host is Windows XP running on a Toshiba M200.
- Guest is Windows Server 2003 running IIS and with SourceGear's Dragnet
(demo version).

I've tried everything that I know...I can't seem to download the latest VM
update.  Not sure where to look from here.  I also now seem to have a problem
pulling up certain pages on the web...the page and frames appears, but with
no data.

I'm trying to find a solution to the problem several people has: my
keyboard is lost every time I change the focus from VPC window to another one.
The only remedy is to save the state of the VPC, shut down Virtual Pc and
restart it.

I have a virtual drive that is formatted to fat32 for use with RIS within
VPC. I have added the drive as drive #2 using the settings button when the

Hello,
I've got Windows 95 running in Virtual PC, but I can't get it to recognize
the CD-ROM drive.  I installed Win95 by copying the setup files from the CD
onto the Virtual Hard Disk.  Any ideas?
