| Questions on how VPC handels some things... | 26 Jul 2005 02:55 GMT | 1 |
well, it really comes down to two "problems" and an oddity. And, really, the oddity can be ignored ;) 1. When using a client OS with the OS enhancements installed (usually a Windows 9x/NT/XP) my tablet seems to fail* after five minutes or so. I'm not

| Guest OS screen resolution doesn't save | 26 Jul 2005 00:54 GMT | 1 |
I've got VPC2004 running with a Windows XP Pro SP2 and all the security hotfixes. Mostly a vanilla setup which I've done many times before. Odd thing is, this one image that I have doesn't allow me to permanently change the screen resolution setting.

| external/internal networks? | 25 Jul 2005 22:03 GMT | 4 |
I want to set up a virtual server farm on one VPC2004 host with all virtual servers on that host having inter-connectivity for synchronisation etc. But I also need to connect to those virtual servers from "real" machines. I can only see how to do one or the other / not both, is ...

| Virtual PC Vs Virtual Server - Why 2? | 25 Jul 2005 11:04 GMT | 6 |
I am new to this subject. Have started using Virtual PC a month back. I found it really amazing. I also tried Virtual Server, but it was a bit complicated to setup and use. Virtual PC is a breeze to setup and use. Why Virtual Server is needed, if Virtual PC is a so cool product?

I have a DOS graphic program (actually runs an embroidery machince) that ran quite well on a Win98 PC but won't run on XP. So I loaded Virtual PC and it runs in VPC but it runs as if it were on an old 386...very slow. It redraws very slowly but oddly enough, the keyboard buffer ...

Packages of debugging symbols for various Windows systems are distributed in MSDN and can be downloaded from Microsoft. It is not necessary to have a continuous Internet connection from the computer running WinDbg to the msdl symbol server.

| Keyboard problem with Virtual PC | 24 Jul 2005 20:48 GMT | 12 |
I have problems with the keyboard in my Virtual PC: the repeat rate of the keys is very slow. If you push a key, and stay pushing, the cursor goes very slow from a (letter) position to the next. The same with the Backspace and Delete keys. Is this problem known and can someone ...

| Securing Virtual PC | 24 Jul 2005 16:33 GMT | 6 |
I plan to have virtual pc set up in a training environment, but need to secure it enough that users cannot tamper with the setup. I have enabled security so only administrators can change the settings, but the .vmc files have to be writable by the user in order to run.

| Data file consolidation, Shared Folders, and ISO images | 23 Jul 2005 22:07 GMT | 5 |
Howdy all, I'm looking for methodologies to consolidate data files when VPC is used in a training environment to leverage a secure host OS that is treated more or less like a production network (lots of saved time vice ghosting setups).

Does VPC support the Athlon 64 64-bit processor? (or, for that purpose, any x86-64 processor - Athlon, Opteron, newer Pentium 4)? Or does it only operate in 32-bit mode (?)?

| BSOD During Install under Virtual PC 2004 SP1 | 23 Jul 2005 22:01 GMT | 13 |
Some people have had reported success with installing Media Center Edition 2005 under Virtual PC 2004, SP1. Did you have to do anything special in your VPC setttings to get MCE2005 to install? I get a BSOD early in the windows setup.
