I would like to set up a vm as a proxy server or a router, force host internet connection to this vm and test some software. Currently I have Virtual PC 2004 with sp1 installed on Windows XP Pro host. I have a physical nic and a Loopback adaptor installed on the host.

When i try to install XP on my virtual PC it wants to format my hard drive in order to do this. I have sed up a partiton on my hard drive to format that instead but htis did not work. It still wanted to format my hard drive. Is there a way to get round this?

I have a XP client which I logon with cached credentials at home. I connect to the Internent thru my broadband connection (wi-fi or built in network card). I then start my VPN connection (Microsoft ) to the corporate network.

Install the Solaris 10-GA under VPC 2004 - using the NAT network that served me well under 3 other Linuxes + Win XP - the install does detect VPC offers a DEC21140-ish interface and tries to use the dnet0 interface... but to no avail: read some rumors on ze net about this Solaris ...

Just installed my first VPC instance, but cannot get networking to work. From the guest I'm using the host's adapter, and the adapter is intialized fine with config from DHCP - but from the guest I cannot ping anything on the network. From the host I can ping the guest.
