Host OS Windows 2003 failing to boot post MS patch installation30 Apr 2006 03:34 GMT1
I had Windows 2003 Server running as a host OS in VPC 2004 build #528. It
was working fine for months.
All of a sudden the OS does not boot. I see the Windows 2003 loading splash
screen and then a flash of blue before VPC goes back to post screen.
Unable to setup Shared Folders in VPC 200429 Apr 2006 21:52 GMT2
My Shared Folders option is always disabled.  
VPC 2004 5.3.582.27
I downloaded and installed the VPC Service Pack 1.
Click on Actions -> Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions.  One alert

I Have downloaded the demo but when I try to install it is already out of
date. Is there another version available. I try to install the VPC with SP1
and it says that it cannot find Virtual PC 2004 on my system. What can I do?

When I try to install the Microsoft Virtual PC SP1 on my PC, I get:
1: The InstallScript engine on this machine is older than version required
to run this setup.  If available, please install the latest version of
ISScript.msi...."

Concerning networking options for Virtual Machines, all I want my VMs to do
is to be able to communicate with each other, and not out through the host
machine network adapter to other real machines on the network.  So which

I've got VPC 2004 SR1 installed. Pre-configured virtual PCs (e.g. Microsofts
hands-on-labs) are running witout problems.
When I try to setup a new VPC by myself (XP SP2 VLP) I get a bluescreen on

behaviour in the network connection between the Host and the VPC Client.
I have 2 VPC's running om my host computer sharing my hosts network adaptor.
The 2 VPC's have a dhcp assigned ip-adres from my router.

When I first installed XP on VPC, it worked GREAT! Then, I upgraded to SP1
and the mouse was no longer contained in the box, now (after enabling
extensions) - the screen does not refresh the events in the window. For
instance, when I click 'start', there is no menu displayed, but ...
