i am using vs.net 2003 in a virtual pc image-environment. each time i want to use my sources files froma share (originally it is my external hard drive), it crashes. eventlog shows an error with id 1000, saying in detail:

I have a laptop [Dell Inspiron 9400 (Core Duo), 2GB memory] which runs VPC 2004. As soon as I install VPC SP1 - my keyboard response is slow, the mouse locks up and it freezes intermittently. I had the VPC additions installed and I did update them once installing SP1.

I am running Warp 3 fixpack 32 under XP. When I try to install additions, nothing appears to happen. I believe that I am doing it right because it worked fine on my laptop with Warp 4. I tried running OS2INST from /os2 on the virtual CD but that crashes with

I've just downloaded the free version of Virtual PC and installed it on my XP machine. I am running XP as a virtual OS within Virtual PC, but when I try to update Windows it fails the genuine Windows validation. Does anyone know how to get around this?
