Cannot see CD-ROM drive after installing Windows 9523 Oct 2006 15:47 GMT10
I have a Windows 98 SE boot disk and a Windows 95 CD. The boot disk could
detect the CD-ROM drive, and that started the installation.
After booting from the hard disk, Windows 95 prompts for the CD-ROM, but
can't find it anywhere.
Virtual PC Memory vs Mac Memory23 Oct 2006 15:39 GMT2
I have a 3GB Mac G5 2.0 Mhz computer but my Virtual PC, in the
information window, only shows that I have 2GB and will only allocate
512MB for Windows XP RAM and 16 for Video.  Is there a limit as to how
much Mac memory will be recognized by VPC?  I can't find anything in
Ping-Ben The VPC Guru-A ?? Regarding Win 3.X Sound Drivers-VPC 2004SP123 Oct 2006 11:56 GMT1
To The Great VPC Guru,
First off, a great big Thank You for providing a link in your blog to
the Trio Video Drivers for VPC.  I tried and tried to find them, but
they were nowhere to be had.  I was finally to tidy up that part of my
Multimedia Sound Controller22 Oct 2006 21:09 GMT5
I have migrated to Virtual PC 2007, and the Internet does work now.  Every
time RC2 boots it wants the driver for the "Multimedia Sound Controller."  I
tried my sound card drivers that came with the computer but they only
support XP.  Windows Update doesn't have it.  Do I have to ...

Which processors support hardware-assisted virtualization22 Oct 2006 15:45 GMT6
I am having trouble finding a clear list of which processors support
hardware-assisted virtualization. Documentation states that both AMD and
Intel have products which do support, but I can only find references to the
core 2 duo.
VPC 2007 on XP Home22 Oct 2006 10:14 GMT4
I noticed that unlike VPC '04, which just says it won't run on XP Home,
'07 won't even install on Home.  Is there a way to override this and
force '07 to run on Home?
Virtual PC and a wasted video card22 Oct 2006 03:29 GMT5
It is not good when a company has so much still has the ego to produce
software that is limits itself.
For example, take Virtual PC 2004.  It limits the video card to 4 MB.
Shame on you Microsoft for creating software that could have been really

cannot access host from within virutal machine20 Oct 2006 20:29 GMT9
I have a problem that seems similar to other postings I've read -- but not
quite.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I'm unable to access my host
machine using the UNC path (not sure if this is the correct term).

I wonder whether the same can be done with virtual pc. That would be
VPC 2007 - any specifics to test or look for?20 Oct 2006 12:09 GMT3
So far VPC 2007 runs fine under XP Pro/SP2 and Vista RC2.
On my XP Home based box it failed to install due to an "unsup-
ported" OS. I know, I wouldn't get support if I were to install it
on a PC running XP Home, just like with VPC 2004 which, how-
Which is better for Server2003 self-training, virtualpc or virtualserver?20 Oct 2006 10:36 GMT3
Or is it one in the same, really?
I'm just interested in turning my existing box into a self-contained domain
with Server2003 and an XP client machine. Will it make any difference if I
use virtualpc or virtualserver to accomplish this or is virtualserver just

I cannot find my product key. I turned my house upside down, and found
